Q2 Nostalgia or Necessity? The BO3 Map Debate

I’ve been playing Call of Duty since the original Black Ops, and I love that bo6 bot lobbies for Sale is embracing legacy content. But the idea of bringing back Black Ops 3 maps has me torn.

On one hand, nostalgia is powerful. Maps like Hunted or Redwood were atmospheric, beautifully designed, and played well even with BO3’s advanced mobility. They stand out in memory as peak CoD design. Bringing them into BO6 could capture that same energy for new players.

On the other hand, is it necessary? Black Ops 6 already seems to be pushing for original maps that are built from the ground up for its more grounded movement and updated mechanics. If developers invest too much in retrofitting old maps, are we losing potential for fresh ideas?

Also, how many times can we keep reusing the same content? I’m starting to get the same vibe I did with Nuketown—as great as it is, it’s been remade too often. There’s a fine line between homage and overuse.

Maybe the solution is balance. Include a small number of BO3 maps, fully reimagined—not just visual reskins. Give them a new tactical edge. Let returning players feel that rush of recognition while making sure the gameplay feels new.

And finally, let’s not forget Zombies fans—some of the best BO3 Zombies maps (like Der Eisendrache) could deserve a revival, too.

What do you guys think? Should BO6 rely more on its own map identity, or do you want to see multiple BO3 maps brought back?
